What Makes A Good Life?

I just watched a beautiful Ted Talk by Robert Waldinger on 'Lessons from the Longest Study on Happiness.'

The big takeaway - relationships matter most. It still catches me by surprise. At this point, how many times have you heard that connection and quality relationships are more meaningful than wealth, fame and achievement? And yet, how many times do we go after those very things?
There are days I think I'm loony for enjoying conversations with a dear friend on my couch for hours. I could literally spend days on end doing this. And then afterwards, I start judging myself for not being more 'effective' with my time. That maybe I should've focused on the pressing tasks at hand (like trying to find a kitchen table to replace the current Home Depot folding table...or working on my business...or saving the world that's 'falling apart').
Truth is though, I'd much rather spend quality time with my loved ones. Perhaps it's my love language or maybe I should just accept I've found the fountain of happiness! LOL! Could it be that simple??

That being said, I want to connect with you in a meaningful way. I love writing and sharing but sometimes I wonder who's on the other side reading? Like who are you really?

It's too much to pretend I've got it all figured out when...for reals, I'm still searching...searching as much as you are. Looking to find the fulfillment and the ever elusive happiness. Yes, I have many life hacks and have read way too many books/taken too many courses on the topic of making life easier, wealthier and better...but how can I make that meaningful?

If you lived nearby, I'd tell you to pop over so we could hang out on my grey sectional and chit chat over yogi tea. There have been many sacred convos that have happened and I don't know how to explain it...but there's something about laughing at the silliest things and then sharing deeply about the vulnerable stuff that creates soul friendships.

So I want to create that meaningful connection right here and get to know you better. Here's some questions to get the convo started....
  • What does connection feel like to you?
  • What question do you want to ask but feel like it's simple or stupid or you 'should' just know it already?
  • What's the one thing you need right now that would be a game changer for you?

I'd love your insights and your response will go a long way for me to start connecting with what matters to you most. So we can have some real convos. Plus, it will save me from trying to 'figure it out' on my own!

I'm not looking for perfection (for the love of God, I'm trying to let that ish go!) and even one short answer is all it takes to feel connected. Just comment while it's fresh...otherwise, this may get lost in the sea of emails, facebook, instagram, netflix, family, or the junk food that's calling your name.

Totally ok to comment while stuffing cookies in your face though...no judgment. :)

Hugs,
Shazia
