I saw something so stunning that it left me in reflection for days. Something that happens on a daily basis but I miss the majesty day after day. The very thing that brings light into our day...
The Sunrise.
I was blessed to watch the sunrise over the ocean at Outer Banks this week. Nothing to obstruct your view, providing the perfect frame to absolute beauty. As I sat there in awe watching the horizon, I had the following reflection:
The many hues as the sun enters the horizon
Reminding me life has many colors before sunshine comes
Before the day begins
Each one illuminating the space in a new perspective
So we are ready for brightness to emanate
Simply breathtaking.
Watching as color began to fill the sky...a collage of purple and red and pink and orange. The colors kept transforming everywhere as the sun started peeking through...the little bit of yellow pushing its way upwards.
And slowly...
slowly...
slowly...
the sun kept rising.
Not rushed, not all of a sudden but in just the perfect amount of time. I was captivated and wanting the sun to come....
Thinking, it's going to be up...
ok now...
here we go...
and yet...
it took its time.
Leaving me mesmerized - watching the sky's transformation from dark to dawn to daybreak.
The divine rhythm in nature that can never be rushed or passed by because each and every moment is purposeful. A journey to be made, patience to be had, time to be savored -- to witness the full illumination.
I reflected on the saying that the night is the darkest before the dawn (is it really Batman who says that??). And how we often talk about life in a black and white way...sad/happy, dark/light, hardship/ease, and yet nothing in nature is that way. Nothing is actually so binary but a beautiful metamorphosis between stages and phases.
The tree that changes to beautiful foliage in the fall...losing its leaves in the winter...budding in the spring with blooms of flowers....and filled lush and full in the summer. The same for the flowers. The seasons. Animals.
And for us.
We can't rush things because everything has a purpose in every moment in time. No matter how badly we want it to. We have to trust.
For me, I yearn so much to be free now - free from the 9-5, free to travel, free from the heartaches of starting a business. As I build out The Life Engineer, there are so many colors of learning (both inside and out). I wish I was there already - successful and making a difference in the world.
Freedom is my sunshine and it's not quite time yet. There is a journey to enjoy and savor. What if I didn't savor the moments, the learnings, the growth -- all the colors?
I would miss out on the love in my life, meaningful relationships, and immense personal growth.
I would miss out on the lives of people who have transformed and are in the midst of transformation.
I would miss out on my lovely client who got her dream job and just told me she is pregnant! When we first talked, it seemed like it would never come as much as she wanted it to...but in divine time, it all came in pure perfection.
I would miss the long walk with my friend where even amidst life being crazy, we made the time to connect.
Each moment is to savor, every experience for a reason
Leading us to that full brightness, in celebration of every season
What is your sunshine?
Where are you trying to go and feel like it's just not there yet? What do you want that just hasn't come yet?
Take a moment and reflect on how you can savor this moment and your personal sunrise. I would be honored if you shared with me.
With deep gratitude,
Shazia
