Pardon my use of the F word...but it sure was an F-ing weekend to remember.
Family. Fun. Food.
In that order. With Faith transcending it all.
What happened this weekend? Well, the story goes….

What happened this weekend? Well, the story goes….
...this past weekend, I visited a magical place...a place so sacred, it changed my life. Basking in sandy pearls, enveloped in golden sunset hues across the distance; love and stillness permeated through the horizon and my heart. Peering deep into our souls, we unearthed secrets buried decades deep. I left a revived woman.
...this past weekend, I visited a quaint beach town, South Haven, right on Lake Michigan. A girls getaway with my cousins ranging in ages 15-44. We splashed in the lake, ate lots of yummy food, and chatted until the wee hours of the night. I left a revived woman.
Ok, before I sound like a total kook, I want to tell you the two events, in fact, were exactly the same. What’s the connection between the two? {Hint: the answer is in the question}
Connection.
We were connected by a family bond and it wasn’t until this weekend that I saw the depth of what that meant. We shared our struggles in life and those of our family. We learned our ancestry, where we come from and who we are. We all share the same maternal grandfather who gave up his life in order to stand up for what’s right. A man who said no to corruption and defended his family until the end, even as the hit men came to his home to take his life.
It was a new story for some of us and an old one for others, but the pride we felt reflecting on our grandfather's integrity was palpable. It helped us make sense of who we are and how it threads through in each of our lives.
In every way, this weekend was something I will cherish for the rest of my life...and if we never do it again, those bonds we strengthened are lifelong. That's all it takes.
The honest conversations with loved ones who exude love, reflection and deep introspection leave imprints on the heart. The sharing of advice, the exchange of stories and the recollections of (sometimes painful) memories are enough to give deep meaning to our lives. The openness, the non-judgment, and the conscious listening are enough to elicit ties between souls.
I felt Seen. Heard. Understood. It was like mirrors of who I am, yet each of us unique in our own way. Admiring the reflections, I was able to leave with a new sense of...me.
So tell me this, whom do you want to connect with? It may be someone you’ve been longing to connect with for some time, a loved one or perhaps someone totally unexpected. Follow your intuition and see what unfolds for you...
