Here's a letter I wish someone wrote to me when I was growing up and finding my footing in the world. Wanting to find balance and direction but with no where to start.
When I felt like I had so much to give but didn't quite fit in. Trying to please everyone else around me and playing small...even when I knew I was destined for more.
I didn't get that letter then...but truth be told, I could still use it now and come it did.
Here's a letter I wrote to a very special young woman I know. In many ways, I was writing to myself and all the women out there on the edge of greatness.
That includes YOU too. :)
Here's the letter and I would love to hear what it brings up for you, in the comments below.

Dear Amazing, Beautiful You,
I hear you about feeling in a rut. It's tough to be a woman of meaning and purpose but not sure where to go. And even when you have excelled and things 'should' be falling into place, you can feel out of sorts and even out of place.
It's something I reflect on a lot personally as a natural leader, a feminine leader, who is also a woman of color. It's been on my mind so much recently because I can still feel out of place in my life now! It's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.
I don't want to diminish the feeling to our external only, though, because it's much deeper than that. I believe a starting point is finding people we connect with, on a soul level. I imagine you're in a place where you want to fit in and do well but may wonder why you just don't?
And then the internal pressure of wanting to do the best...especially when you've been bucketed (and in your case skyrocketed) into a category of amazingness. It's a wonderful place AND it can be exhausting. Has there been time for you to think about what you want? What you deeply desire? Or has it only been excelling with all the things that are good on the outside?
I'm not sure if any of this resonates with you but just wanted to put it out there. I've been in a similar place myself and it's tough to keep going if you're not living a life authentic to you. That's where the refreshment comes in...when something is refreshing and enriching. FOR YOU.
Oh Beautiful YOU, I could go on and on about this but I want to give you some space first. My huge hugs to you.
I see you and the bright, capable and amazing woman you are.
The multi-dimensional woman you are.
You are at the start of your real journey just by sharing your pain out loud.
You are starting your path to discovering who you truly are...and when you step into that, you WILL make a mark in the world. I have no doubt about that.
Promise me that you won't dilute yourself to fit in.
Or give up on your desires to excel only on the outside.
I wish someone had told me these things when I was younger...and maybe they did and I just didn't listen.
In either case, I want to share with you now that you are a strong, powerful, and feminine leader. Not to be confused with the masculine power that seems to be prominent in today's world. There's a different way that feels just right.
You have to step into you now.
Be OK with just being.
Listen to what your heart is telling you.
And find a good friend who you can share with, deeply. Make an intention to find her so you have someone to connect with.
And know I'm here too.
Hugs from one leader to another,
Shazia
