Accept and Let Go
Letting go of all that's on your mind. The stress. The anxiety. The guilt. The shame. The failure. The perfection. The not enough time. The overwhelm. The feeling not good enough. The comparing. The not knowing. The not understanding why. The negative thoughts. The criticism.
THE PRESSURE (*sigh*).
The pressure of wanting to be everything for everyone AND perfect while you're at it.
You're spread thin juggling it all. Your family, work, home, and let's not even get started about what you see in the mirror. It seems you're doing a whole lot of everything but not really anything. You’re getting nowhere and you're pooped.
On top of that, you’re so frustrated, starting not to care, and actually becoming kind of mean. You snap at those around you causing unnecessary tension you later feel SO bad about.
You don’t want your to life to look like this.
In fact you want the exact opposite. You want to feel fulfilled and purposeful and making a difference for your loved ones in your immaculate and tastefully decorated home as you toss your lush hair behind your toned shoulder and laugh effortlessly while everyone loves you. But instead…
You feel like a failure (*huge sigh*).
Yes, let that breath out…
Like a balloon so full and needing to let go of some air before bursting into a bunch of little pieces on the floor. You're terrified you may secretly end up just like that…if things keep going the way they are. You’ve had enough and you’re EXHAUSTED.
But what if I told you the pressure...the immense pressure...
is NOT completely REAL?
That there’s no ‘perfect’, no ‘time crunch’, no gold star at the end you’re working so tirelessly for?
Consider it for a moment...who’s putting pressure on you? What your family/body/home/career/life ‘should’ look like?
Sure, we can blame other things and people…society, community, social media, family…
We can even justify it by saying I’m doing what’s ‘best.’ But who made up what’s ‘best’ and who is it really for?
And can we EVER reach that? Because there will always be something ‘better’ out there.
And because of that…your life will never measure up to some arbitrary standard. A gold star that no one actually has.
The truth is, life's going to happen. And NOT exactly the way you planned. And that's a GREAT thing. Because I hate to break it to you…but as intelligent as you are…you’re limited. I’m limited. We’re all limited.
There’s SO much in the world, in the universe, and beyond that we can't even begin to imagine and yet the Divine is taking care of everything in perfection.
What if you…
That thing that plagues you, feeling not enough, not accomplished, not a whole lot of things…give it back or even toss it out. Toss it out to the trees, or write it down and shred it up, or my personal favorite…just tell God:
"I give this {thing} back to you and I’m no longer taking responsibility since I’m not in control anyways.”
And you let it go…just like that. Try it.
You're not saying it's okay.
You're not saying, I'm 'fine' with where I'm at.
You’re not saying I have to be in this forever.
You're saying I’m ready to move forward.
You're saying I can breathe so I have energy and space to reflect on what I really want.
You’re saying I’m ready to be free.
Accept and Let Go
This is the first step and while it seems easy…it’s kind of the toughest one. Letting go is so much easier said than done. But what an immense relief it is!
In my next post, I'm going to share what will make you sparkle. And yes, precious jewels will be involved.
In the meanwhile, can you help take the pressure off? I’d LOVE to hear what you’re letting go of. Comment below with your big thing. It will help me know this was useful because ironically, I put so much pressure on myself to write this post ‘perfectly’ that I had to read this out loud a few times to start breathing again. It’s always a work in progress! :)
Hugs,
Shazia
