Do wishes ACTUALLY come true? This question is often asked, although not in those exact words. It's usually couched in other phrases I hear...
Well what happened was seriously AH-mazing and liberating!
For those of you who have been following, I went on a reading deprivation, or fast let's call it, for 1 week. That meant no reading of books, no watching TV, and NO social media (yes, that means no Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and I threw in no WhatsApp for good measure). You can read why I did it at my post here: Distraction, Deprivation, or Dream-cation? The week was SO much better than expected and I felt... It's my birthday today!!!
There are many things I love in life and birthdays are one of them. A whole day to celebrate you?! YESSSSSSSSSSS....I LOVE IT! like LUWAH it. You know what's tough? When you feel like your life is 'just fine.' Or so you tell others and mostly yourself. It's this weird in between you live in where you rationalize everything in your life to feel better about it.
And you live like that for a while. You take your smart, motivated, passionate self and you subdue her bit by bit. Wondering where the joy is amongst the junk? Snafu from my side. I had this diamond metaphor to share but realized I can't use some cheesy metaphor because it's not big enough to capture the essence of who YOU are. Truth is you're already a diamond. Fashioned beautifully. What’s missing is the final polish for you to see your brilliance.
I see the immense light within you, even if you don't see it yourself yet. The light trying so hard to shine but stifled by the box it feels like it has to live in. That it has to be in all the time.
I'm reminded of a beautiful client of mine -- You’ll never believe this and I’m still in shock about it. But, for reals, I can't make this stuff up.
It’s a true story about following my intuition, even when it made NO sense at all. You might know how intuition feels…that tingly feeling inside when something just feels right. Or the gut instinct you can feel to your core. Sometimes it draws you to something or makes you feel connected. Other times, it may send a strong message to move away from something. Often times, it makes no sense but you just … know. Maybe you follow it.... and maybe you don't. But here’s what I’m learning over and OVER again.
I love to de-clutter. So much so, that a friend who had a free afternoon to herself and wanted ideas of what to do, got the following suggestion from me -- De-clutter.
I thought it was genius. She ended up taking a nice drive somewhere instead. LOL. The thing is, I believe clearing out space for things you no longer need, makes space for what you WANT. Anytime I've purged and thrown stuff away or donated things I'm not using, I feel a sense of relief. My house is cleaner, I feel lighter, and it feels like I'm giving back. Because if I'm not using something and it has a need, wouldn't it be better for someone to actually use it? The best part is every time I de-clutter, something good comes into my life. Things will fall into my lap shortly after I clear out a space. But I just set a new record: $84.69, half an hour after de-cluttering. After staring outside a plane 45,000 feet high in the sky -- I couldn't help but wonder...
What's possible? Seriously? Spring is in the airrrrr...Or so I'm telling myself as I'm waiting to bust outta here already! The good thing about feeling like spring is here (except maybe it's still a teeny weeny while away)....is getting the spring cleaning done early! Then when spring arrives, you can go enjoy the gorgeous weather and fresh air! I may be one of three people in this world who adore de-cluttering but I can't help it. It's so thrilling to get rid of things that are just taking up precious space in your home, car, office and mind! It started with a picture….
And ended with a soul mate. This time last year was one that I’ll never forget. I had the opportunity to visit a friend in Trinidad and while working out of her house one day staring at her lush, exotic yard filled with huge tropical plants (ones I had only ever seen in the aisles of Home Depot), I started thinking about my life. Single and wanting more, I wondered -- What's next for me? I felt incredibly open because for the first time in my life, I had nothing telling me what to do next. |
